A person can easily request a change of address on their PAN card online. All you need to do is download the “Change Request Form” from the official NSDL website and fill in all the required details. It is important to note that a PAN number is assigned only after the PAN card has been issued.

How to Update Your Address on Your PAN Card Online

Follow these simple steps to update your PAN card address:

Step 1: Visit the Official Website

Go to the official NSDL PAN services website to begin the process.

Step 2: Select Applicant Category

Scroll down to the “Select the Category of the Applicant” section and choose the appropriate option.

Step 3: Choose the Right Category

Select one of the following from the dropdown:

  • Individual
  • Partnership Firm
  • Association of Persons
  • Body of Individuals

Step 4: Fill in Required Details

Complete the PAN address change form by entering details such as your name, father’s name, gender, and date of birth.

Step 5: Select Changes & Upload Documents

Tick the checkbox next to the address field you want to update. Enter your PAN number and choose the paperless option if you want to apply online.

Upload the following documents:

  • Photograph
  • Supporting documents
  • Digital signature

This removes the need to submit physical documents.

Step 6: Choose Offline Mode (Optional)

Select “No” in the paperless option if you want to proceed with the offline method.

Step 7: Save Acknowledgment Number

After submission, you will receive a 16-digit acknowledgment number. Save and print the acknowledgment form for future reference.

Step 8: Attach Photographs

Paste two recent passport-size photographs and sign in the designated space on the acknowledgment form.

Step 9: Send Documents

Enclose the acknowledgment form, self-attested documents, and payment (demand draft or cheque). Ensure your PAN number is written on the back of the payment instrument.

Step 10: Label the Envelope

Write “Application for PAN CHANGE REQUEST – Acknowledgment Number” on the envelope.

Step 11: Mail the Application

Send the envelope to the NSDL PAN Services Unit in Pune.

Step 12: Submit Within Timeline

Ensure the application reaches NSDL within 15 days from the acknowledgment date.

Step 13: Track Processing

Once received, your application will be processed, and updates will be sent to your registered email ID.

Which Documents Are Needed for a Minor to Apply for a PAN Card?

Parents or guardians can apply for a PAN card on behalf of a minor as per the Income Tax Act. The minor’s identity and address proof will be based on the parent or guardian’s documents. However, the minor’s Aadhaar should be used where required.

Proof of Identity

Submit any one of the following documents of the guardian:

  • Ration Card
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Driving License
  • Passport
  • Government-issued Photo ID

Proof of Address

Submit any one of the following:

  • Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, Driving License
  • Post office passbook
  • Property registration documents
  • Property tax assessment order
  • Domicile certificate
  • Address certificate issued by authorized officials
  • Utility bills (electricity, water, gas – not older than 3 months)
  • Bank or credit card statement

Proof of Age

Provide any one of the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Aadhaar Card
  • School mark sheet
  • Government-issued ID with date of birth
  • Affidavit signed before a magistrate

Process of Applying for a Minor PAN Card Online

Follow these steps to apply online:

  • Visit the NSDL Tax Information Network website.
  • Select “Online PAN Application.”
  • Choose Form 49A or 49AA based on residency status.
  • Fill in all required details.
  • Upload documents and complete the payment.
  • Submit the form and note the reference number.
  • Track your application using the reference number.
  • The PAN card will be delivered to your registered address.

Process of Applying for a Minor PAN Card Offline

Follow these steps for offline application:

  • Download Form 49A from the official NSDL website.
  • Fill out the form carefully.
  • Attach required documents and photographs of the minor.
  • Submit the application at the nearest NSDL center.
  • After verification, the PAN card will be sent to your address.
